Illustraion is stereoypically pen on paper but more recently objects have become a key source to creating an illustration. By no means is this meant to offend the beautiful talent that is hand drawn illustration. Instead of picking up a pen why not pick up a photo or object to create a new illustration?

The main intention behind incorporating objects within illustration is to open our eyes, showing you a fresh way of seeing them; specifically objects that may have previously been ignored.

By linking objects into the art world shows that they can be seen in various manners. Whether it is a lot of objects placed together to form a whole new image, changing that one image by physical alteration or even using the actual object to create a new piece.

By the means of intervention of the object you are removing their original context enabling a creation of a new piece with a different concept. Through simple change the previous image acquires a fresh allure, contrasting from the original.

In modern day world illustration plays a huge role on our society. With the use of objects, moving away from the hand drawn shows that you can push the limits within illustration.

Research

Research, research, research. You can not start a project with a basis of not knowing anything can you? Get that research at a healthy level before you interpret what you are setting out to do. Allow yourself to not only become influenced by artists, but by also setting foot outside and reflecting on what you see around you.

Unknown

Feeding from your research you can strive upon initial ideas of a creation. Do not get caught up with just flowing with one initial idea though, allow time for change and new approaches within your work.

Collecting

Set out on a mission to find the best objects you can possibly get your hands on to get creative with. Do not rule out any places, cover them all. A good place to start woul be car boot sales, charity shops, your local neighbourhood… This list could be endless. Just make sure you have permission before you go taking anything.

Experimentation

Experimentation within objects you have collected is vital; make sure you try out different shapes, composition, colour and size. Have a bit of fun with that object; you can change it to become the most bizarre illustration possible. By little intervention you can remove an original image and place it in a whole new context.

Identification

Within working with objects you can be quite experimental with the identification of whos it belonged to. Removing the identification- if you are working with old photos, magazines, postcards and so on- can be a whole new exciting process. What beats working with an object that was not meant for your eyes?

Mediums

Work with everything and anything. Experiment with those amazing objects you found in every single way possible. Have a try and see what a printer, camera or scissors can do for you. You may only result in using one or two different methods, but set out with a broad mind.

Do not be afraid of having too much work. It is always best to have a lot of work to dip into rather than having little. From those ideas you are sure to find a gem within them.

Finale

Put as much effort into your final piece as you have done within your project. Do not just print on plain paper, you put so much effort into displaying the objects they deserve to be displayed with grace and grandeur.
